Timber Cleaning & Preparation
A great finish starts with the right preparation. Many factors can affect the performance of your finish such dirt, natural oils/tannins, microbial growth, food, oil contamination, previous coatings and even the species of timber itself.
Before applying coatings to freshly constructed decks, aged or weathered decks or previously coated or oiled decksit is advisable to remove all forms of foreign contamination.
To achieve this, we recommend a cleaning process using Aqualis Timber Clean followed by Aqualis Timber Prep. Depending on the condition of the deck or the timber species a light sanding may be required to remove raised grain and to open timber fibres allowing deeper penetration and adhesion thereby resulting in enhanced coating performance.
For removal of previous coatings Aqaulis strip ease can be used. Strip ease is environmentally safe and does not have harsh fumes. For regular cleaning and maintaining, Aqualis Deck Bright is recommended annually to keep your H2Oil coated decks in good order.
